La version del 92 de Abbado de "Il Barbiere di Siviglia", con Domingo y Battle, resulta también agradablemente refrescante para el verano. If sad, enforce it with Stern playing Alban Berg. Or enjoy with Ben Tankard's "Play me in Your Key" Album. Humm, Rankin is beyond Vince Jones, I think. At last, relax yourself with Gavin Bryars's "Jesus' Blood never failed me yet" (the Tom Waits favourite record, as he ocassionally pointed out).

Un libro fundamental? Dudo entre "Dolicocéfala Rubia" de Pitigrilli y las obras completas de Enrique Jardiel Poncela. Los nihilistas, empero, han de encontrar sustento en "El largo viaje al fin de la noche" de Louis Ferdinand Celine, mientras que "Un héroe de nuestro tiempo" muestra a un Lermontov muy cercano a la línea en que el invierno se diluye y después solidifica. No me queda -en fin- más remedio que recomendar releer a Chesterton (quizás "El Hombre que fue Jueves") o Cortazar ("62 Modelo para Armar").

Some Perfectly Intolerable Tales

Bueno, aquí el narcisismo toca techo: un viejo cuento en castellano (español, oh sí) para solaz de la gente que desee odiarme, seguro que con razón. Se trata de una primera versión de Donde tú pero tan lejos (cuesta mucho acabar las cosas, por supuesto): prosa poética (like that stuff from the Spleen of Paris, but ... err ... Charles and Oscar are not here!), aunque sin despertar a Finnegan.
Si lo anterior se hace demasiado largo, he aquí también Ama de Casa, un micro-cuento un tanto depresivillo. Aunque quizás lo breve carezca de entidad dramática (tema para estudiosos).
